Scooter News ADVERTISEMENT Prelude to the Melbourne Motorcycle Expo 2007 October is the hot month for two wheeled action in Victoria.
Jason Tubnor Well it is nearly that time again, when we see the newest machines and accessories rolled out, on to the floor of Jeff's Shed at Southbank. It is an exciting time for enthusiasts with money burning holes in their pockets as the latest toys are on display in pristine condition to drool over. It is also an excellent advantage for the average Joe or Jane that may have not ever ridden two wheels, to get the bug and experience this amazing transport.
With scooter sales ever increasing in the two wheeled market, we are getting an ever increasing choice from manufacturers and importers. This year’s show should be pretty special with a large chunk of importers representing in an ever competing market place. We will see scooters from Yamaha, Arqin, Aprilia, Eagle Wing Scooters, Vmoto, Piaggio (Piaggio, Vespa, Gillera), Stoney Creek Power Sports (TGB, Peugeot, Sachs), Electric Motor Company (EMC), Suzuki and Honda.
Surprisingly, two noticeable absentees from the importer displays are Bolwell and BUG. With the new Bolwell VS125 and soon to be available Xciting 500 from BUG, perspective buyers will have to venture to dealers to view these new vehicles instead.
Notable highlights of what will be on display are recently new or revised releases from manufacturers. There is the new MP3-250 from Piaggio which will surely have a large audience due to its unique, three wheeled setup. Yamaha with the revised Cygnus NXC 125 packing electronic fuel injection to reduce emissions, reduce fuel consumption and improve performance. Aprilia will be showing the new, learner legal, Scarabeo 250. Arqin will have the new V3 hybrid scootercycle, mixing the best of both worlds into one package and EMC will have a range of their emission free vehicles, showing the future of sustainable transport.
