Scooter News Sydney Motorcycle and Scooter Expo The sun came out briefly in Sydney on the weekend and so did the crowds here is a short summary of the show.
Allen Drysdale Sydney was the last in a long string of Expos traveling around the country.
Like others though we only saw a snapshot of the scooter market yet there were still some notable mentions on display.
Eagle Wing participated in all the shows including Sydney and displayed its full range of product. From the Cino 125 to the Sport 125 Eagle Wing has started to bring with it a fine range of scooters. All painted in a range of metallic colours the scooters look a little different and well worth a look.
Zoot Scooters were at their first Expo for the year displaying again what is a full range of scooters. Zoot still hadn't received the 150xls and the 250ss at the time of the show but had the current range on display. Expect to see the new scooters on display in showrooms within a week.
The Japanese brands included Yamaha, Suzuki and Honda displayed a full range of scooters.
Yamaha had with it the new Tmax 500 which is sure to be a pretty handy weapon in the maxi class. Also for Yamaha we should make mention of the classy 2008 125 Cygnus X which now comes fully kitted out with fuel injection.
Zongshen displayed its version of the "Piaggio Zip" and I only say that as Zongshen and PIaggio are product partners in China. Armed with a 100 cc 4 stroke engine the ZS100T was on display but a full range will be available in 3 capacities being 50, 100 and 150. Quirky and cute is the best way to explain the Zongshen but the build quality and design look very much up to scratch with the best of them.
Aprilia showed off the range that is "Scarabeo" including the newly updated 250ie version along with the the tried and trusted mojito 125. The Sportcity also looked pretty fresh on display with all three the 125,200 and 250cc versions.
Arqin had a largish stand consisting of the Metro 4 50 and the Sprint 125. But the biggest drawcard still seemed to be the Automatic V3 which had many a person looking and listening to the MP3 player which is included standard as part of the low sleek machine.
Retailers included City Scooter in Darlinghurst who displayed a couple of Scooters and the head turning Segways.
Corazzo jackets direct from the USA made a first up appearance at the show displaying product in a number of new colours and styles.
All in all attendance at the shows across Australia has been fairly strong and Sydney on the weekend was fairly strong also with an impressive and bustling turnout.
Standing all alone because it can was the Mp3 250 by Piaggio that created heaps of interest as it does everywhere it goes.
We do look forward to next years events in which we will most likely see the return of brands like Bolwell and Bug.
See you then!
