Australian Motorcycle/Scooter Expo

2008/2009 Motorcycle Show Dates Announced

ETF

The dates for the 2008 Australian Motorcycle Expo (AME) Melbourne and Sydney Motorcycle Show (SMCS) have been confirmed, in addition to exciting news about Australian Motorcycle Expo Brisbane moving to Gold Coast early in 2009.

The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre will once again be the site of the AME in 2008.

Organisers are excited to announce additional hours to be added to the Melbourne event, for media and industry product launches as well as public attendance.

The Expo will run from Thursday October 30 to Sunday November 2.

These dates coincide with Spring Carnival celebrations, meaning locals and interstate visitors have twice the horsepower to sample. They also avoid a clash with the Bathurst 1000 event.

Following a record-breaking year in 2007, the SMCS returns to Sydney Olympic Park in 2008 from Friday 21 – Sunday 23 November.

The date change will ensure any new motorcycles, scooters or concept models unveiled at EICMA in Milan are readily available for display in Australia.

Queensland’s Gold Coast is set to host one of the most diverse lifestyle adventure and attraction events in first-quarter 2009.

The Australian Motorcycle Expo Brisbane will relocate to the Gold Coast, and will run hand in hand with the newly-incepted Australian Scooter Festival and Australian Personal Watercraft Show (PWC).

The February 19-22 2009 event will be hosted by the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, following its plans for northern extension to be completed next November.

The event will make use of the state-of-the-art exhibition facilities at the centre, while utilising the spectacular surrounding parklands and river for various attractions, demonstrations and test rides.

The backdrop is spectacular – the world’s best beaches are just metres away, and the centre is located in the heart of the Broadbeach entertainment precinct, including Conrad Jupiter’s and Pacific Fair. Less than 5 minutes drive will take visitors to Surfers Paradise, and just over half an hour south are the Tweed and Northern Rivers New South Wales districts.

According to Mark Petersen, Event Manager from Exhibitions and Trade Fairs, the decision to relocate to the Gold Coast fit perfectly with plans to establishing standalone events for scooter and PWC enthusiasts.

“The decision to relocate the Australian Motorcycle Expo from Brisbane to the Gold Coast is an exciting one, and we feel the incorporation of new scooter and PWC shows will ensure the event is a ‘must-do’ for enthusiasts,” said Petersen.

“What better location than the Gold Coast to hold an event that promotes a lifestyle of fun and freedom on two-wheels and the water.”

“This location will give us the opportunity to offer test rides on motorcycles, scooters and PWCs, a unique venture and one we feel will be well received.”
