Twead Heads to Grafton Day 19 - Ride for Autism The rain is falling but its on the way south to Grafton.
Chris Newbold Thursday the 20th march was a cold rainy day when we left Tweed heads for Grafton.
We rode out of town about 6.30am and it was freezing and wet, we could see in the distance that there was a few rays of sunshine, but that didn’t last long. Since we left Cairns I think the rain is following us.
The Arqin scooters are handing the conditions well even in the heavy rain. But even though we have the Rjays wet weather gear it still isn’t enjoyable riding in heavy rain. I keep on telling myself that it’s all worth it, to be able to make a change to my daughters (Courtney) life and the children in the future who are diagnosed with autism.
I would like every Autistic Association around the country to contact the ride for autism so we can have a national event that has a charity bike ride, free rock concert to the public and a black tie dinner. This is our goal so the public and government realise that autism is such a growing issue and if we don’t do something about it soon it is really going to get out of hand. So come on and join us and make a difference.
When we arrived in Grafton we headed to Bunning’s Warehouse where we meet up with the lions club of Grafton and again the men and women were fantastic the caring and understanding of the people involved with lions has really opened my eyes. There are people out there who are willing to help. Sandra Grogan was wonderful today organising everything, as well as the management of Bunning's for donating prizes.
Tomorrow we are meant to be heading to port Macquarie, but we are going to get up early and get to Coffs harbour by 8am so we can attend the Darlington beach resorts recreation day. Graham the manager invited us back to show the scooters off between 8.30 & 10.30. We will then head down to port Macquarie to attend a lunch with the lions club as well as hand out more autism information.
The best thing of all my family is going to meet me at port Macquarie; I have never been away from them this long. I can’t wait
