Looking through the list of recent models to be approved for sale in Australia I noticed that Derbi is making its return. Previously sold here a few years back you may know Derbi with models like the Boulevard or the Atlantis.
But now we see Derbi making a re-entry into the Australian market with one of the tastiest scooters to hit here in a long time. And along with this its moving into a market where we have seen a gap left with scooters like the Gilera VXR and Piaggio NRG so its a welcome site to see a dedicated sports scooter range return.
The GP1 250 and 125 share the same perimeter frame but vary in capacity. Still the 125 belies its size by putting out 10 kw from its liquid cooled Piaggio sourced engine.
The GP1 250 also uses a Piaggio sourced 250 cc fuel injected motor that has been such a hit in models for Vespa, Aprilia and Piaggio among others.
Along with these sporty commuting 4 strokes comes the GP1 50 Open which runs a 2 stroke 50 cc motor and has all the premium trimmings including running the same frame etc.
Dealers along with pricing etc have yet to be set but look out for more information shortly as it all comes to hand, we are only weeks away with already eager punters happy to throw down deposits in anticipation. Below I've placed a list of specs just to start you thinking!
