We will keep you abreast of all the results and times as well as being on hand to interview the winning team. Scootersales.com.au has been invited to join the team from Scooters Scooters who are entering 4 scooters in the event.
Here is the latest word from event organisers:
In its 6 year history, the Le Minz 24 Hour Scooterthon has encountered almost every extreme – drenching rain, high winds, scorching temperatures and even hail.
25 teams and and close to 75 riders are gearing up for a start at midday tomorrow, and are undeterred by the latest forecast which predicts more rain and winds.
The endurance and reliability test, which aims to raise awareness for the Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation, will be held at the Parklands Showgrounds.
Event Manager Mark Petersen said the weather would not be an issue for the field of experienced riders.
“Two years ago the event was held on the wettest day of the year, and at the previous event we saw temperatures reach 35 degrees, so we’re used to the extremes,” said Petersen.
“If it is wet and windy it will only add to the element of reliability.
“We look forward to find out which manufacturer’s 50cc scooter has what it takes to go the distance.”
Public are invited to attend the free event, which kicks off at 12pm on Saturday February 14 and concludes at 12pm on Sunday February 15.
The event is a prelude to the first-run Australian Motorcycle Expo Gold Coast, incorporating the Australian Scooter Festival, which will be held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre from February 20-22.
