Scooter News B105 Mild Hogs Ben from Scootopia in Brisbane joins the B105 Mild Hogs Scooter Gang. Here is his small wrap on the day.
Ben Silver The idea was simple, Stav, a local radio host on B105 Brisbane had a scooter and wanted to meet some more like minded scooter people. The call was put out for a “scooter gang”.
Over a few weeks different ideas for the gangs name filtered the airwaves and finally "Stav’s Mild Hogs" were born. Next step was to meet up………..
On a lovely mild autumn morning a group of scooter riders converged on the Hendra Bowls Club not too far out from the city and we were all eager to meet fellow scooterists. Breakfast was put on by the Club, and everyone had a coffee to get the morning eyes opened. While the morning broadcast was happening everyone mingled, eager to find out how everyone else’s scooter was going. The crew from B105 attached flags to our scooters, it really made for a fantastic sight.
Scoot 2 Commute donated a scooter to select the last member of the “Hogs”. From a 5 possible winners, Brendon had the lucky key that started the bike to much cheering and jubilation from the crowd. We were now ready to ride….....
After a short safety briefing from the local “Boy’s in Blue” we mounted our noble scooter steeds and headed for our destination, the Brisbane Wheel at Southbank. With headlights blazing, arms waving and horns ringing we followed our police escort all the way through Ascot, Hamilton, Fortitude valley and the City. People waved and stared as a mob of over 40 scooters took to the streets. We arrived at our destination a little over 30 minutes from when we departed and even though we only rode about 5kms we had felt like we had just completed a marathon together. It was a blast.
