Scooter News Scooter Racing is Back A dedicated race series for scooters gets under way at the Historic Lakeside Raceway.
Ben Silver Scooter racing is something that is relatively new in Australia but not so new in European Countries. Here in Australia this form of two wheeled motorsport is starting to emerge at a grass roots level because of the increased sales that scooters are attracting and more importantly the low cost of setting up a scooter for the track. In fact on some days you can see people using their daily commute for a punt around the circuit.
Scooter racing is now taking place at the historic Lakeside Raceway near Dakabin which has just reopened for club events. While the scooters don’t ride on the main track there is an abundance of room on the short course circuit which caters for a number of format designs and adds a hill into the equation to make things interesting.
The video you can watch below has been produced by Rob Morrell, a prominent member of the scooter racing fraternity who has now competed in a number of racing events. He and his wife Shelly are out supporting these “Small Wheels Sundays” every second Sunday at Lakeside.
The whole “Small Wheels Sundays” series has been made possible by the North Brisbane Pocket Bike Club which hosts racing for pocket bikes, mini motards and scooters.
