Scooter News Peugeot follows Piaggio into China Just like Piaggio before it Peugeot Motorcycles is to set up a joint venture for scooters in China.
Allen Drysdale The French group Peugeot Motorcycles has announced that it would set up a joint venture with the Chinese company Qingqi Motorcycle to produce scooters in China.
"Peugeot motorcycles announced its project to create a joint venture in China with Qingqi," the group said in a statement.
The new plant, located in Jinan, a city in Shandong province, east of China, will build the updated Speedfight and Vivacity models as well as new models.
Qingqi, one of the three earliest motorcycle manufacturers in China, is controlled by diversified group CSGC and already has a joint venture with Japanese manufacturer Suzuki.
The parent group of Peugeot Motorcycles, PSA Peugeot Citroen, has owned an automobile joint venture -- Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobiles.
