Scooter News Piaggio set to soar with Beverly 250 Piaggio looks set for a huge 2007 and just to start proceedings lets have a look at just one of the models ready to hit the shores around the middle of the year.
Allen Drysdale Beverly 250 ie
The Piaggio Beverly is an extremely safe ride even for those using a scooter for the first time. The double cradle frame made of high-strength steel tubes is linked in front to a telescopic hydraulic fork with 35 mm shafts. Two dual effect hydraulic shock absorbers at the rear with spring preload adjustable to four positions allow the ride set-up to be personalised.
The 16” wheels and wide-section tyres (110/70 in front and 140/70 at the rear) and two powerful 260 mm disc brakes substantially increase the Beverly’s safety and road grip besides making it easy to ride.
The Beverly 250 ie uses the Quasar 250 ie four-stroke, four-valve electronic injection engine with liquid cooling. The new-generation Quasar i.e. engine is the result of a commitment by Piaggio’s engine division to producing a high-quality and extremely environment-friendly engine. The result is a 22 bhp shaft power output and torque of over 20 Nm at 6,500 rpm, giving the Beverly 250 maximum speed of up to 125 km/h and pick-up levels that top the category.
The advanced closed loop injection with a Lambda sensor, together with a three-way catalytic converter and electronic control system, reduces emissions to Euro 3 standards with a corresponding reduction in fuel consumption and quicker throttle response.
