Allen Drysdale The Piaggio Liberty started off the high wheel scooter sales phenomenon and remains an exceptionally successful product.
Originally launched in a 50cc two-stroke displacement, the Liberty was the first scooter in its category to appear in a 125cc four-stroke version before moving up to a 150cc and a 200cc displacement.
The Liberty S (the “S” stands for “Sport”) – is the very first sport high-wheel scooter. The Liberty S is meant for younger users who want more eye-catching styling and arresting sport-style looks while opting for the elegant, lightweight and safe Liberty.
The Liberty S is available in 125 and 200cc displacements.
Liberty S
The “S” version gives the Liberty’s elegant styling a racy twist. The new frontal immediately sets the S apart from the classic version: the arrow-shaped headlamp “drops” into the front shield while the blinkers “climb” onto the handlebar, closely following its shape, now made even sleeker by the use of a tapered ash-grey front fairing.
The resulting shape is sleeker, more dynamic and aggressive, giving the entire vehicle a distinctively racy look.
Several other details emphasise the sport aspect of the Liberty S, from the black silencer and rear view mirrors to the dark grey fenders and fork sleeves. The rear spoiler, which doubles as a grip, and the wheel rims are ash-grey.
The saddle is in a racy grey-black colour combination with orange stitching. Re-designed for maximum comfort and ease of use, the saddle covers an under seat storage space that holds a jet helmet.
Engines
The Liberty S is available in a wide range of engine displacements: the classic four-stroke 125cc and all-new 200cc.
The two-valve, air-cooled 200cc engine, designed specifically for the Liberty, is quick off the mark in town traffic and equally suitable for travel out of town. The choice of this displacement is intended to deliver fluid power and torque at low rpm to emphasise the scooter’s excellent acceleration and pick-up and hence its overall agility. However, the 200cc also capable of effortlessly maintaining higher speeds on longer rides.
The 125cc four-stroke is the perfect blend of performance, ease of use and cost-effectiveness. The Liberty 125 is a very easy way to get around town with a passenger.
Colours
The full engine range of the trendily styled Piaggio Liberty S is available in two colours, Carbon Black and Mistral Blue.
