Around 1000 motorcyclists converged on NSW Parliament House yesterday in protest over recent rises in compulsory third party(CTP).
The vocal crowd heard a speech from the NSW Motorcycle President Rob Colligan along with NSW Nationals leader Andrew Stoner, both upset by the disproportionate rises in CTP costs.
Mr Colligan went onto say that he thought that two wheels presented the solution to Sydney's increasing traffic congestion, and as such as a group, motorcyclists should not be punished.
Andrew Stoner presented a similar view stating that if elected next year that he would take action by performing a review of the current price structure. Declaring that the recent rises were "Outrageous" and that the government was supplying the insurance companies with dodgy data.
Greenslips for the majority of riders have risen dramatically recently, placing a further burden on those that use two wheeled transport as a daily commuter.
At days end, Mr Daley, current Minister for Finance, stated that the Motorcycle Council would be able to assist in providing feedback via the Motor Accident Authority, the representative body that provides recommendations to the minister.
Mr Colligan later stated that he was happy that steps were being undertaken to listen to those effected by the recent CTP rises and would be happy to assist in the decision making process.
The protest overall was peaceful with many motorcycle riders raising helmets in unison, all supporting the need for review.
