Latest news from Vectrix Australia

Global Press Launch

The Press Launch of the Vectrix Maxi took place in Rome, Italy on the 7th & 8th of November, 2006. 35 journalists from around Australia, Europe and North America were invited to view and test ride the Vectrix Maxi around the streets of Rome.
Vectrix also hosted a formal launch dinner and Technical Conference, which presented a detailed insight into the technology behind this innovative machine.
Following the press launch, the Vectrix Maxi is officially available for purchase globally in the first half of this year.

3000 Vectrix Test Riders at EICMA Exhibition, Milan

Vectrix exhibited the current pre-production version of the Vectrix Maxi, as well as future concept vehicles, at the recent EICMA exhibition held from November 14th to 19th, 2006 in Milan, Italy.
Over 3000 test rides were given to journalists and the public over the six days of the exhibition. This unprecedented and overwhelming interest in the Vectrix demonstrates the public’s eagerness for a realistic green alternative to petrol powered transport, and places Vectrix as a truly viable option for both private and fleet transport.

Setting New Heights For Greener Fleets: Vectrix trialed by U.K Police

The Hampshire Constabulary, in the UK, are the first police force to test ride the Vectrix Maxi. Formal trials will commence in February 2007, when Vectrix UK will hand over the first PITO (Police Information Technology Organization) approved Police motorcycle.

John Bradley, fleet manager for the Hampshire Constabulary announced: “I, as Fleet Manager for Hampshire Constabulary who operate a 1000 vehicle fleet operation, which covers 15 million miles per year, am very excited by this new motorcycle technology. I look forward to carrying out further evaluation of the Vectrix product within a policing environment.

“As Vectrix were winners of the East Awards 2005 … for Green Transport Operator /Manufacturer, it goes without saying that we need as a matter of course to constantly consider the environmental impact of our fleet operation. Therefore the opportunity to trial this leading edge technology is a must. We are delighted that Vectrix is keen to allow us the opportunity of evaluating this machine’s potential for our Roads Policing Unit.”

Press & Media Interest

Within Australia, the Vectrix Maxi has been attracting enthusiastic media attention from some of this country’s premier motoring publications including articles in Australian Motorcycle News and Two Wheels, as well as publications in The Bulletin and CSIRO among others.

Test Ride the Vectrix Maxi

Vectrix Australia will offer test rides to everyone interested in purchasing a Vectrix Maxi. Test rides can be arranged at our head office in Melbourne, or alternately at any of our upcoming road-shows in major cities around Australia. If you would like to book a test ride please contact Vectrix Australia at info@vectrix.com.au.

Future Initiatives

Concept vehicles being developed include the Vectrix three wheeler (pictured) and other utility vehicles.
There is also ongoing work improving alternative fuel technologies. For example the Vectrix fuel cell is undergoing manufacturing trials at Protonex.
