Piaggio
Words By Piaggio
Considerable attention towards the environment, the quality of life and the decrease in consumption of energy sources have been the core elements for the success of the corporate strategy and development plans implemented by the Piaggio Group. Values that have been channelled into making a committed effort to design, produce and market 2-3-4 wheeled vehicles fitted with electric and hybrid engines, which are able to significantly reduce polluting emissions and consumption, core aspects when designing and engineering sustainable means of transport with low/zero environmental impact for people, goods and services.
This is what Piaggio has achieved with its Porter Electric Power - an irreplaceable vehicle used to make zero emission urban service deliveries and transportation of goods to the historical city centres - highly popular both in Italy and abroad: it is the most diffused 4-wheeled electric vehicle in Europe, with over 5,000 in circulation; in the city of Reggio Emilia alone there are 450 vehicles and the municipality of Barcelona recently purchased over 100 vehicles.
Piaggio's tradition of innovation applied to eco-sustainable vehicles makes the Group a worldwide trailblazer in this sector and allows the company to present two vehicles at "Green Planet", the area at EICMA 2010 dedicated to low environmental impact transportation, with hi-tech ecological drive systems, engineered and produced to meet the demands of local authorities, public bodies, private businesses and public corporations concerning the delivery of goods and services.
Piaggio Mp3 Hy-mail 125ie/300ie
Piaggio Mp3 Hy-mail is the first scooter in the world specifically engineered to meet the demands of business clientele with a Plug-in, parallel hybrid engine, a new and cutting-edge drive concept that combines low environmental impact i.c. engine with an electric powered motor. The synergy of the two engines improves performance and reduced fuel consumption (up to 60 km/l) and CO2 emissions, that decrease to just 40 g/km (used 65% in hybrid mode and 35% in electric mode).
In "electric only" mode Mp3 Hy-mail can access Limited Traffic Zones and all zones subject to "zero emission" regulations. Moreover, thanks to the integrated battery charger, Mp3 Hy-mail can easily be recharged in all conditions and circumstances, using both domestic electricity networks and public column network supplies.
Piaggio Mp3 Hy-mail is fitted with a series of accessories specifically designed for postal and delivery services such as the spacious and robust rear top box used to carry packages and voluminous objects, the tubular rack designed to hold and easily fasten a large mail and document postal sack and the protective windscreen to guarantee maximum comfort in all weather conditions. The graphics can be customised with the colours and logo of the relative business concern.
Piaggio Mp3 Hy-mail is available in two hybrid displacements with 125 and 300 cc internal combustion engines.
Piaggio Liberty e-mail
Piaggio Liberty is the agile, lightweight high-wheeled best-seller already used for delivery services by local authorities and companies in over ten Countries.
A fleet of over 60,000 Liberty - an extraordinary high number for the two-wheeled sector - is used, among others, by the Postal services in France, Spain, Austria, Switzerland and Italy.
With this success to support it, Piaggio Liberty e-mail is now available with a brand new and evolutionary electric powered motor. The electric unit is 2.6 kW (with the possibility to switch between to control mappings - "Long Range" and "Power", plus reverse gear) and guarantees performances comparable to the top 4-valve 50 cc 4-stroke internal combustion engines, but with zero level of polluting and noise emissions, a characteristic that makes it the ideal vehicle for delivery services in historic city centres, Limited Traffic Zones and strict "zero emission" only zones. Liberty e-mail can easily cope with medium distance routes as it has a range of over 70 km when using the 2-battery version.
The vehicle is fitted with an integrated battery charger, and can easily be recharged in all conditions, using both household mains socket and public column network supplies. The two batteries are high energy density type; they use lithium technology and recharge in just 5 hours. Piaggio Liberty e-mail is also available with one battery only; in this case the range exceeds 35 km and recharging times are as low as 3 hours.
Liberty e-mail also comes with a large rear luggage rack that can be used to carry packages and voluminous objects, a sturdy front carrier rack ideal for postal mail and documents sacks and a generous windscreen. The load space can also be increased with the possibility to tow a trolley and hence reach a capacity of up to 80 kg. The graphics can be customised with the colours and logo of the relative business concern.
