SYM Symba 1st Impressions
In a lead up to our review of the all new SYM Symba, here we have a pictorial just to wet the appetite.
The SYM Symba has just been released this week across Australia by Select Scoota, list price is $2990 + ORC.
Available in three retro colour schemes, black, red and pale blue, our steed for the review was the lovely pale blue.
If looks are any indication on just how good the Symba will sell, then Select have a serious winner on their hands. In my short ride, all number of people I passed made inquisitive comments, this bike-scooter-hybrid is a real head turner.
Performance is more then adequate for around town (80 - 90 Km/h is comfortable) and fuel economy should be well in excess of 50 km/l. And once you become accustomed to the semi-auto box (no clutch), things roll along smoothly. Take it easy and you will be rewarded with lovely smooth gear changes.
Initial impressions were immediately favourable, don't be categorising this as your everyday "postie bike". Build quality is typical SYM, this is one well built individual.
So plenty to be positive about, yet the biggest positive needs to be left for the retro style. The Symba, like I said is a real head turner, and you will need to get over the attention quite quickly. Ride one, see what I mean.
Anyway, better leave something for the review. Don't be summing this one up before you ride it. All the looks, ample around town perfomance with the promise of accessories to come.
I am always looking for shopping steeds and the Symba would be perfect. Especially when the accessories arrive. Adding a basket on the front would not only instantly add retro appeal, it will also make the Symba a practical everyday alternative.
Do not judge this one without a ride. Get on-board the Symba Revolution.
