Scooter News Piaggio Zip 50 Wins The Age Scooter Shootout Piaggio's revamped Zip 50 has claimed top honours in a mega 50cc scooter shootout in Melbourne's The Age newspaper.
Piaggio Australia The electric-start Zip, which also comes standard with alloy wheels, a three-position height adjustable seat and environmentally friendly four-stroke engine, defeated seven other 50cc scooters in taking home the spoils.
After navigating a torturous route through the Melbourne CBD in 39-degree heat, Barry Park, the Deputy Editor of The Age's "Drive" section, praised the Zip for its comfortable ride, great indicators, good-sized glove box, functional shopping bag hook and the well-located instrument cluster.
In his wrap-up, Park noted that the Zip 50 borrows all the best bits from the blue-chip Vespa LX50 scooter - all in a package that retails for just $2190 (plus ORC).
The Zip 50 can be ridden on a car licence in Qld*, WA*, SA* and NT*. Also, reduced on-road costs are available in applicable states via single-seat registration.*
Colours are Nero Lucido (black), Rosso Dragon (red), Azzurro Siderale (blue) and Grigio Excalibur (silver).
