Scooter News Piaggio MP3 300 10 things I like about you! We have to give the MP3 back, what is it that we are going to miss?
Allen Drysdale Dear Piaggio Australia
Thank-you for the loan of the new MP3 300 over the last few months. I wanted to let you know about all the things I'm going to miss now that its gone.
To help with the healing process I thought I would create a list, kind of like a "Top Ten".
Lets call it "Allen's Top Ten" things he will miss about the Piaggio MP3 300.
Here we go.......
Number 10
Being able to park the MP3 300 on all types of inclines without fear of any movement. Lock wheels on any angle, put the handbrake on. Uphill or down, it will stay where you park it and remain locked safely in place.
Number 9
The ability to traverse all kinds of terrain with ease, including gutters. Over any surface three wheels do help.
Number 8
The looks. The MP3 is a conversation starter and still paralyses onlookers and passers by. Love the new look and style of the MP3, also love the height of the new screen.....
Number 7
The two new buttons on the handlebars that allow you to access the storage compartment with one push. Don't ever underestimate how handy these buttons have been over time. They may be small and round, yet one push and you have access to a world of storage. Thank god opening the seat has gone from the key.
Number 6
The multi-function dash has two trips, an odo, clock, temp and time. It also tells you speed, revs and fuel. One of the most comprehensive units on the market. Toggle through with the handlebar mounted mode button.
Number 5
Rear passenger backrest is a new edition on this model. This increases comfort immensely and helps with that number one passenger in your life.
Number 4
The new 278 cc motor, one of the best engines on the market for efficiency and power, so nice to live with on a daily basis. Linked up with "Ride By Wire", the MP3 is a huge technical advancement.
Number 3
This ones for the travellers. Airport trips have seen me take a 30 litre carry-on suitcase between the legs, back pack under the seat. Pull up, park for free, all the gear I need.
Number 2
The standard storage area available. I can fit two tripods, a camera bag and a backpack with computer, all under the seat and in the boot. Amazing, its like having a mobile office on wheels...
And Number 1.....
Two wheels up-front are always going to be safer on the road. Braking on any surface is reassuring, tipping the MP3 into corners when wet is satisfying, and all up two wheels equal extra confidence.
..................
Ok, lists aside, the Piaggio MP3 has been the go-to machine when called upon. Take the MP3 as a long term proposition and you will be truly satisfied and surprised how many duties this machine can carry out.
For me, I have a fond admiration for the all-round ability that the MP3 300 has shown.
The Piaggio MP3 300, it will be hard to fill the void left by your return.... Farewell good buddy !
