Scooter News Lambretta Returns The new Lambretta model range will start being sold on the Italian market this July. Steeped with history will the new Lambretta make its mark?

The first models from Lambretta will start being sold throughout Italy shortly. News is, the LN 125 will go on sale next month, followed by the LN 150 which will start retailing in September.
This highly anticipated model has been on the drawing boards for many years, it has been one of the ongoing highlights at recent Eicma shows. We first came across the Lambretta concept in 2009 and subsequently an enhanced production ready version in 2010.
The LN 125 and 150 run 4 stroke air-cooled engines with power outputs of 6.5 Kw(125) and 7.7 Kw(150) respectively. Other specifications include 12 inch wheels, disc brake front end, a single shock on the rear. The body is said to be of steel construction, which will clearly differentiate it in the market.
Suggested pricing starts at around $3500 Euro on the Italian market, this is all dependent on colour choice and capacity. Further models are being earmarked for 2012, including the very tasty LS model with its own unique style and two piece seat.
Pricing would suggest that Lambretta will be going head to head with another well known metal bodied brand. The big differentiator will be the Lambretta name and that unique curvy style that draws from an extensive past. An obvious bonus......
Plans for the Australian market remain unknown, though it would seem unlikely that we would see the brand here. As pricing suggests, Lambretta would sit above the current crop of Asian imports and compete directly against Vespa's LX range.
The new LN and LS model range has been on the drawing board for years, millions of dollars have been invested and success is very much anticipated. We will wait and see.....
