Piaggio Press
Piaggio Italy announced this week that it had won the contract for the
supply of 17,783 scooters for Poste Italiane (Italian Postal Service).
The scooter used will be the good old Piaggio Liberty using a 4-stroke 125 cc engine with fuel injection, this helping the scooter comply with stringent euro emissions standards. The Liberty also features a host of accessories designed to make delivering mail practical.
Piaggio already sells the mail delivery scooter to a host of European countries. This deal was worth approximately 30 million euro in total. Nice work if you can get it!
Stefano Sterpone, Piaggio Group, said: We are extremely satisfied about this very important success for our Corporate Business division. As a result of this award, Poste Italiane will have a modern, comfortable and environment-friendly Italian scooter for use in our city centres. For Piaggio, the Poste Italiane supply confirms the Liberty scooters developed by the Group as a competitive, complete solution for the mail delivery service.
From its conception, the Delivery model of the Piaggio Liberty has been kept constantly up to date in technical and functional terms ‚ thus becoming the most reliable and efficient choice for this type of requirement‚ thanks to Piaggio‚ experience with the Italian Post Office and the Post Offices of many other European and non-European countries, for total shipments of more than 45,000 Liberty scooters between 2004 and 2011.
