Scooter News Another record to be logged Melbourne scooterist Julio Languiller has smashed the latest 24-hour record and created a new one on his unmodified four-stroke 50cc Honda scooter.
Caroline Page Mr Languiller travelled 1084 km in 24 hours starting at 10am Saturday 3 March, finishing Sunday and used only 34.85 litres of fuel.
He’s now waiting on official confirmation of the world record.
“I felt good the whole way,” he said.
“There were no hiccups with the running of the 50cc, which proves they can keep going and going and going,” he said.
“They’re reliable, economical and environmentally friendly, perfect for getting around inner city streets, not to mention the free parking.”
Mr Languiller said the previous record (Guinness World Record) was made last year by Omar Khalek on a two-stroke 50 cc T.G.B, covering 981 km in 24 hours.
“Given that we topped this by 100-odd kilometres, on a road, rather than a racetrack, this will be tough to beat,” he said.
“But I’m always up for a challenge.”
Mr Languiller now holds five world endurance records for scooter riding.
