Scooter Review Aprilia Habana 125 Aprilia’s newclassical revival scooter has got a bundle of style.
Photography by LOU MARTIN Aprilia is hedging its bets with the scooter market, offering a range of models to suit all tastes – even Jamie Oliver’s, but that, as they say, is another story. The Habana falls fairly and squarely into the retro/classic category, and the designers have done a terrific job of creating a classic scooter from scratch, with lines that flow from start to finish.
The air-cooled, four-stroke 125cc singlecylinder engine meets all emissions levels and, as a bonus, is very quiet. It also allows the Habana to qualify for the NSW 125cc scooter licence.
The 12-inch front and 10-inch rear wheels, with wide tyres, offer pretty good ride and handling when the going is smooth, though the front end gets a bit bouncy over bumps. The low seat on the other hand is comfortable, long and very spacious.
Under-seat storage is a bit limited – fullface helmets won’t fit – and the luggage hook is placed too low to be of too much use, but the Habana is more about style and fun so if your scooter riding is for rest and relaxation rather than sheer practicality, at $5550, the Habana is well worth a look.
