Victorian Scooter Rider Training Roadsafe Westgate and H.A.R.T RoadSafe Westgate in conjunction with Honda Australia Rider Training (HART) are continuing to expand their community education programs, and have scheduled another information event to take place in the Western suburbs of Melbourne.
Honda Australia RoadSafe Westgate and HART’s Motorcycle Awareness Day will be held at Werribee Plaza on Saturday, September 9th and will focus on raising awareness of motorcycles by other road users.
According to HART’s National Manager, Mark Collins, there is an increasing need for these kind of events to raise awareness within the general community.
“There are more and more motorcyclists and scooter riders coming on to the road daily, particularly due to the rising cost of running a car,” he said.
The Awareness Day is not just about educating automobile drivers, however. It will also aim to remind riders about the importance of keeping their skills up to date.
“With the weather getting better, a lot of riders dust off their bike and their riding gear without a thought of updating their skills,” Collins said. “Spring and early summer see a spike in the number of riders involved in crashes.”
“HART is now providing Refresher Courses for this growing part of the market who can be quite vulnerable because they are not used to riding in the current conditions.”
In addition to HART, the event is being supported by the Road Safe Council of Westgate and the Victorian Police.
Displays will include Police and HART motorcycles, road safety information, and Police and HART instructors on hand to answer questions.
HART is also offering a FREE motorcycle course of choice to one lucky person who attends on the day.
Werribee Plaza is located at the corner of Derrimut and Heaths
Roads.
