Scooter Review Peugeot SpeedFight 2 WRC Wrapping world rally graphics around the tasty SpeedFight has only made it stand out from the crowd even more.
Words by CHARLOTTE MCKEON, photography by LOU MARTIN If the best is rated on the percentage of fun generated, I had the finest waiting for me when I went to pick up the Peugeot SpeedFight2, the funkiest, most stylised and snappiest little motor around - and the UK’s number one selling scooter. Dressed in red with all the World Rally Champion sponsor logos, it is impossible not to feel excited just looking at it. If nothing else, it looks fast and who said looks don’t count?
Well, luckily for Peugeot it is fast. Like the proverbial clappers. It only had 10km on the clock when I picked it up but things only got better as the top speed increased and the brakes improved over the next few hours. It is perfectly set up to filter between the traffic with confidence or take to the freeway (though it is the most optimistic speedo I’ve seen for a while). And it’s a lot smoother than other two-strokes thanks to the muffler being rubber mounted, absorbing annoying vibes.
I could go on about the single-sided front suspension and the fixed rear shock but I feel all I have to say is the Speedfight has all the best bits from the Elystar and the Jet Force and none of the aggravating characteristics. It has a simple and clear dash, snappy brakes, the ‘boa lock’ and performance to match its looks though lacks a spring loaded side-stand.
The thought and care Peugeot have taken with their new line of scooters is demonstrably clear in the Speed Fight2 though if you feel it’s not for you, go back and read the top because there’s something for everyone.
