Scooter News Yamaha Majesty Sport 250 New Yamaha breaks cover on the internet with some interesting features for the future.
Allen Drysdale Launched for the domestic Japanese market is the new look Majesty 250 Sport from Yamaha.
The design is very rounded and lends itself well to be customised something we see a lot from individuals in Japan. The low rider look is very popular. This style reminds me a bit of the new Honda Forza X with a restyled handlebar area including storage in the front glove box as well as a huge storage facility under the seat.
The motor is also all new with 4 valves and liquid cooling.
The big news with this scooter is the implementation of what Yamaha calls YCC-AT (Yamaha Chip Control - Automatic Transmission). This apparently controls the desires of the rider by allowing a selection of settings to be chosen depending on the riding conditions. This is something new and interesting and a big development in CVT transmissions currently used on scooters. Settings chosen on demand include Drive, Assist I, Assist II and things like performance and engine braking are changed accordingly.
Yamaha has also launched the new look majesty with a single mono shock-absorber in a central parallel position rather then the normal horizontal position off the motor and transmission. Again another first on a scooter of the type.
Yamaha has also added a keyless system quite like the one on the new Forza X (see Scooter 12)
So not for the Australian Market but a few things to think about in the advances of scooter technology are seen here on the Majesty 250.
Could these things find there way onto future models? We will have to wait and see.
