Scooter News Are you Carbon Nuetral? More on Carbon Nuetral Scooters from Sydney scooter dealer Scooterworld.
Easy Being Green Feel good about something you’ve bought – ride away on a Carbon Neutral scooter!
Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock for the past year, you’d know that climate change is now the biggest social and environmental problem facing the world.
By using vehicles powered by fossil fuels like petrol, Australians contribute to climate change every day. But the good news is that Sydney-based business Scooterworld, in partnership with Easy Being Green, have made it simple for individuals to reduce the amount of greenhouse gas pollution their lifestyle produces.
Scooterworld is offering customers Carbon Neutral scooters – which means they have offset the greenhouse gas emissions created in four years of riding a scooter, at no cost to the customer.
Going “Carbon Neutral” means calculating greenhouse gas an activity produces, and paying to stop the equivalent amount of pollution from entering the atmosphere somewhere else.
Scooterworld part-owner Andrew Close says the decision to offer Carbon Neutral scooters was prompted by concern for the environment, combined with a wish to make customers feel good about their purchase.
“Customers will just sleep that little bit easier knowing that they’ve actually done something positive for the environment,” Andrew said.
“I think the market is changing. Customers aren’t just about "what's in it for me?" - more people are questioning the impact of the purchases they make on a broader level,” he said.
Scooterworld has taken care of all the details of going Carbon Neutral, and provides customers with a Carbon Neutral key ring and display sticker, as well as a certificate confirming the greenhouse gas reduced on their behalf.
Andrew Close says Scooterworld is offering the Carbon Neutral option in order to raise awareness that scooters are the obvious choice of transport in Sydney.
“Sydney has the climate to suit bikes and scooters, and because scooters take up less than one-quarter of the space than the average car, they reduce traffic congestion as well as greenhouse emissions,” Andrew said.
“The majority of scooter riders are pretty clued-up about the whole climate change issue. When they buy a scooter they’d rather get Carbon Neutral status than a free mobile phone or throw-away consumer item,” he said.
