Stoney Creek Powersports
Recent Credit Crunch takes it's toll on importer.
On the 25th of November 2008 Stoney Creek Powersports (SCPS) importer of TGB, Benelli, Peugeot and Sachs scooters fell into the hands of external administrators.
At this stage it has been advised that administrators will be pursuing avenues to keep the Stoney Creek Powersports operation intact until a suitable outcome is reached for its creditors.
Meaning that administrators are in the process of finding the best possible outcome and solution for SCPS.
SCPS held a large percentage of the Australian Scooter Market and had been recently placed under pressure from a lack of supply from China and an ongoing impact of the credit crunch.
It's all happened very fast for SCPS who had invested heavily in bringing new models to Australia from each of 4 brands carried.
It is not yet known how this will effect owners of scooters and scooter retailers but as more details come to hand we will pass them on. At this stage for most dealers it will be business as usual until a resolution is in place.
The overall scooter market this year continues to head towards a new record over the previous years as recent figures suggest more people are heading onto scooters as a form of daily transportation.
