Piaggio Zip 2T

Different Strokes for Different Folks. Piaggio’s top selling ‘baby’ is back with a brand new 50 cc two stroke engine. $2290 +ORC

Piaggio Press

Piaggio’s popular Zip 50 and Zip 100 four-stroke scooters have a new stable-mate, the Piaggio Zip 50 two-stroke.
Some owners have expressed a desire to enjoy the extra ‘zip’ that the two-stroke power plant can offer but still do the right thing when it comes to the environment. All Zip models comply with Europe’s tough Euro 3 emission requirements.
Convenient features abound with an easy to read dashboard including a low-fuel warning light, convenient lockable under-seat storage, a shopping bag hook and an open storage compartment in the front panel. And to cater for riders of different heights, the seat is adjustable through 3-positions.
Only a car licence is required to ride the Zip 50 models in Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and Northern Territory. A motorcycle licence is required elsewhere. It’s an ideal little scoot for those wanting to get about on the smell of a not so oily rag. The Zip 50 2S is available in White, Red, or Black.

  •        Zip 50 2S $2,290*
  •        Zip 50 4S $1,990*
  •        Zip 100 4S $2,490*
*RRP not including on-road costs and dealer delivery charges.

About Piaggio

The Piaggio company, nestled in the Tuscan countryside between Florence and Pisa, first invented scooters in 1946 when it produced the first-ever Vespa and helped liberate a war-torn Italy. Vespa remains the iconic scooter brand with its unique metal-bodied design. Today, Piaggio continues to produce scooters under the classic Vespa brand, the sporty Gilera brand and the contemporary Piaggio brand. In Australia, PS Importers is the sole importer of this iconic and popular range

More on the Zip from Piaggio Italy

Modern styling, agility and freedom of movement.

Piaggio’s best selling ‘baby’ is back with a brand new 50 cc two stroke engine. This most historical and best loved of engines is the perfect complement for the sporty, sparkling nature of the Zip 50, and makes it beautifully easy, intuitive and fun to ride.

Continuing success

The Zip is one of Piaggio’s greatest successes, with over 750,000 units sold since its launch. The reference for all compact scooters, the Zip is amazingly popular throughout Europe and beyond, among young and lady riders as well as discerning adults.

16 years after its introduction, the Piaggio Zip is once again available with a 50 cc two stroke engine, the most historical and best loved of all engine types. The sparking performance of the two stroke engine maximises the nippy and agile character that has made the Zip such a tremendous success. This authentic ‘city dweller’ is the perfect answer to chaotic traffic and narrow streets in our city centres. Easy fun riding, modern young styling, plus solid build quality are the secrets behind a success story that still shows no sign of ending.

The Zip’s sporty design, with its moulded shapes intersecting to create simple, essential lines and balanced form, maintain a clear Piaggio family feeling.
The futuristic front shield features two ‘cut-aways’ for the side lights and direction indicators. The handlebar fairing is characterised by a clear ‘teardrop’ covering the powerful headlight, and the dashboard is populated by round instruments and indicators. The rear lights are embedded in the upper edge of the side panels, while the plastic trim and new matt black wheels add a “racy” look to the new Zip 50 2T.

Another element of style on the sporty new Zip 50 2T is its completely redesigned seat, which hides a storage compartment big enough to hold a full face helmet. The seat can even be easily adjusted to three different heights. Easily accessible and intuitive handlebar controls contribute effectively to riding comfort and pleasure, while functionality is maximised by automatic cancelling direction indicators. A practical, lockable compartment in the back of the leg shield provides safe and convenient storage for items in daily use. The Zip is also equipped with an ultra-practical bag hook.

Chassis and engine

The frame is designed to guarantee the performance and robustness necessary for urban mobility, and features a single tube with high strength pressed steel plates. The suspension system includes a conventional telescopic fork at the front and a rear system in which the engine acts as swingarm and is damped by a double acting hydraulic shock absorber with coil spring. Powerful but controllable braking is guaranteed by a generous 175 mm front disc with hydraulically operated caliper and a 110 mm rear drum.

The Zip 50 2T is instantly recognisable for the unmistakable sound of its air cooled Piaggio Hi-Per2 two-stroke engine. Sprightly yet ecological, this modern engine stands out for its lively performance, simple, robust design, easy servicing and low maintenance costs.
