Kymco People GT 300

Designed for the daily grind from the city to suburbs

Kymco’s new People GT 300i is a compact design, large wheeled scooter. Identifying the need to provide a scooter to satisfy the requirement of not only comfortable riding but also the capacity to deal with the challenges of bumpy roads and traffic jams, Kymco gives us the People GT300i. The new People GT is designed for those people who spend a lot of time on the daily commute between city and suburbs. And for those new to the riding experience, the People GT is designed to offer a perfect combination of easy control and high performance.

Kymco’s design principle was to create an aggressive big wheel scooter that will meet the requirements of the modern metropolis lifestyle. To combine humanity and responsibility with high technology design to make a new generation vehicle.

The People GT offers lot of new characteristics such as a powerful engine which provides stable power delivery with an urgent feeling of acceleration. Both front and rear 16 inch wide tyres provide stable control and ensure safe, comfortable riding on bumpy roads between city and suburbs. The flat and wide floor panel and footrest provide a more comfortable space for both rider and passenger. The lower seat height is designed to meet the requirements of more riders, offering a greater level of confidence to the less experienced. Large diameter disk brakes offer safe and stable brake performance further enhanced with the option of ABS. Compact styling with reduced weight makes for a more pleasant cruise around the city traffic jam.

The Kymco People GT engine is a true 298.9cc 4-stroke, Single cylinder, 4-valve, liquid cooled, driving a constantly variable transmission system. The electronic fuel injection system helps bring the max horsepower 22/8500 (kw/rpm), and max torque to 24.5/6500 (Nm/rpm). Utilising the most advanced scooter-oriented programmed fuel injection system for, the People GT easily passes EPA for USA and EURO-3 regulation. This upgraded engine has twin balance shafts designed to reduce engine vibration and improve rider comfort. At idle, low or high speed conditions, the twin balance shaft design and lower piston weight reduces engine vibration which would normally reduce engine strength. The 300cc Kymco engine also uses roller bearings on the rocker arms to increase valve train efficiency, and thus increase power output and reduce fuel consumption. The high performance CVT system uses Kymco’s brand new high strength material belt designed to promote transmission shift efficiency and to match up efficient ways of utilizing CVT space and weight reduction, the transmission layout has been shortened. The redesigned aluminium radiator and engine head increase cooling capacity, lengthening engine life.

The multi-functional instrument panel includes fuel gauge, clock, speedometer, temperature gauge, trip meter (shows the total distance, and trip distance), warning lights (R/L indicators, high beam, fuel indicator, oil service, engine check, battery charge). The needle indicator driven by a digital micro step motor, is complimented by the digital LCD monitor for a combined digital/analogue display.

A modern feature is the front left/right indicators which cleverly combine a traditional indicator bulb and clear LED park lights. At the rear, the large, highly visible tail light unit combines a traditional incandescent bulb for the brake/tail light with high intensity LED’s for the indicators.

The frame of the People GT is a high tension truss type with double construction design. From the steering tube, the main pipe extends to the floor pipe which follows the slim body shape to create an ideal frame profile, which will improve the stability for high speed cruising. No matter where you are and how bad the road is, or what your speed, the People GT provides a safe and comfortable riding experience. This reassurance is enhanced by the 260mm front and rear disc brakes. The high friction brake linings combine with high strength 3-Piston callipers to enhance heat dissipation and improve the efficiency of brake. The long stroke suspension front and rear offers preload adjustment for a more comfortable ride and the Bosch wheel speed reader provides the electronic data required for the digital dash assembly.

The new People GT 300i is dressed in an elegant multi layer metallic paint coating, which emphasizes the hi-performance styling. The colours on offer include pearly white, dark metallic grey, light metallic blue.
