Piaggio MP3 YOURBAN 125 300

Piaggio launches new base version of the MP3 at this years Eicma show in Milan.

Piaggio Group

European Press Release

With MP3 YOURBAN the Piaggio three wheel family expands its offer, bringing all of the advantages of the MP3 to a compact scooter with light, agile and manoeuvrable lines, ideal for moving about in traffic.

Available in the 125 and 300 cc engine capacity versions, both with electronic injection, the MP3 YOURBAN stands out for its top-of-the-class equipment and finish and is designed for both young executives who use the scooter for their daily commute between work and home as well as a female public in search of a safe, agile and fun means of transportation. With MP3 YOURBAN, the MP3 is now for everyone!

Launched in 2006, the Piaggio MP3 astonished the world with its two independently sprung, tilting front wheels: an absolutely innovative technological solution that redefined the very concept of dynamic stability.

A winning formula, to which the more than 80,000 MP3's sold all over the world attest.

With MP3 YOURBAN, the Piaggio three wheel range is enriched with a model which stands out for how lightweight it is and the cleanliness of the shape which adds the advantage of a chassis setting designed to enhance it equipment and agility, ideal for moving around easily in the city traffic while providing an absolute riding pleasure to the unparalleled levels of stability and safety.

MP3 YOURBAN will win you over at first glance with a young and sporting design: A stylistic balance which joins the spirited front end and the racy rear end together in harmony to create a sleek and light line.

Every component has been studied in its every detail, both aesthetically and from a constructive point of view.

The front view, made unique by the double front tyre, is dominated by the handlebar which integrates the powerful double dome headlight assembly, LED daylight running lights and turn indicators and crowned by an efficient smoke grey top fairing. At the centre of the shield the glazed "necktie" characteristic is evident, a finish which recalls that of the alloy wheel rims and the silencer heat shield. The encircling and protective form of the mudguard in a solid colour to match the bodywork slims out the front view.

A sleek and racy tail corresponds with the spirited front end, which elegantly combines two convenient handles for the passenger and finishes with the modern and painstakingly designed taillight, characterised by daylight running lights and a LED stop light.

The two-colour scheme of the bodywork, with coloured parts alternating with aluminium-look painted inserts blends in with the matching coloured saddle and interiors. The innovative metal-look finish central element running along the vehicle enhances its sleek lines and its muscular, dynamic attitude. The details of the handlebar, the rear shield and the central tunnel, under which the fuel tank cap is concealed, complete the aesthetics of the vehicle.

Elegant in its lines, MP3 YOURBAN is also comfortable, functional and equipped with every comfort and state-of-the-art technical solutions.
The saddle, with seating on two separate levels, integrates a comfortable rear support for the driver and is shaped in such a way as to allow for easy and safe reach to the ground and to ensure an extremely high level of comfort. The finish is also available in various colour schemes, co-ordinated with the colouring of the internal embossing. The generously spacious helmet compartment provides comfortable space for two jet helmets with visor or alternatively a laptop bag. A practical and discrete concealed bag hook finds a place integrated into the leg shield back plate.

Exhaustive, easy to read instruments with sophisticated pale blue lighting offer full information ready at a glance. The instrument panel is comprised of three circular elements (speedometer, water temperature and fuel level), a modern LCD display with odometer, digital clock, battery voltage and external temperature functions as well as a series of warning lights dedicated to the fuel reserve, high-beam, turn indicator, oil pressure, hazard and injection system check. There are also warning lights for characterising MP3 features such as the roll lock system, lock system fault and engagement of the parking brake.

The quadrilateral articulated front suspension system and the double front wheel are unique and distinctive elements which make riding the Piaggio MP3 an absolutely revolutionary experience, providing the rider with riding stability in curves more than any other scooter, benefiting from excellent road holding which can be felt in all of its importance on wet asphalt or in poor grip conditions.

This chassis philosophy was drawn on for the new Piaggio MP3 YOURBAN in order to obtain the maximum in terms of agility and manoeuvrability. Thanks to the 13" front tyres (110/70) and to a contained wheelbase, under 1450 mm, MP3 YOURBAN responds rapidly to changes of direction, consequently fast in "leaning in" and precise during insertion and navigation of curves; characteristics which make it extremely efficient in city and metropolitan riding where, thanks to its double front wheel, it has no rivals in terms of active security: pavement, irregular or bumpy asphalt, rails and manholes are easily passed over in complete safety.

The compact dimensions and the manoeuvrability of the Piaggio MP3 YOURBAN also make it extremely easy to manage while parking or manoeuvring from a stopped position, even for the female rider; also to the credit of the electric-hydraulic suspension block system which allows parking without the need for a stand support.

Piaggio MP3 YOURBAN comes with two different engines, with 125 and 300 cc capacity, both featuring electronic injection system.

The 300 cc single-cylinder 4-stroke 4-valve engine with electronic injection delivers a maximum power of 22.4 hp at 7,500 rpm, with a torque output of 23.2 Nm at just 6,500 rpm. With such specs comes a throttle response to match, coupled with feisty performance, making it ideal both for tackling congested town traffic and for mid-range touring in full comfort, whether riding solo or two-up.

The 125 cc engine is also equipped with electronic injection and adopts an E.C.S. (Electric Cooling System) water cooling system which guarantees lower energy absorption and therefore better fuel economy.

With both engine capacities, the MP3 YOURBAN is fast, sporty, spirited, and silky smooth thanks to electronic fuel injection, but also silent running and respects the environment. The oil-bath free wheel system reduces noise on start-up, whereas quiet running is enhanced by the new engine casing that also ensure improved drive train cooling.
