Piaggio Liberty 150 3 Valve
The Liberty is one of Piaggio's all-time best sellers. Piaggio's Liberty has sold over 800,000 units worldwide since its inception back in 1997. Now Piaggio release the next generation 3 Valve Liberty and it's making its way to Australia.
The changes are many over the previous 2 Valve model. Obvious is the move to the 3 Valve engine format as seen in the latest range of LX Vespa. This lifts power, increases performance dramatically and cuts fuel consumption. Piaggio claims fuel usage numbers well over 50 km/l. The new engine also features 10,000 km service intervals.
The Liberty's wheel size on the front is revised from 16 inch to 15 inch. The rear tyre stays at 14 inch, though the width of both front and rear is narrowed for better handling. A new comfort seat and the relocation of the battery means storage is also increased by near 25%.
Piaggio Australia have reduced the price of the current 2 Valve Liberty to make way for the new 3 Valve version. Currently the 2 Valve Liberty is priced at $2990 plus on-roads, the new 3 Valve version will enter the market at $3690 plus on-roads. Not bad given the changes are significant. The upgrade to the class leading 3 Valve engine, the new seat, and the larger storage area will have a huge impact where it counts - in the showroom.
