UNSW & Vespa - Form and Function for the Future

A recent collaboration with the University of NSW (UNSW) and Vespa  (Piaggio) saw the Primavera 150 i-get provide inspiration for second Year graphics & media students to conceptualise how Vespa may be perceived in the future.

An actual bike was installed at the university campus to allow students to visualise first hand the essence of what makes the Vespa design Iconic, an instantly recognised silhouette, and how the design may be interpreted in the future and still retain the Vespa DNA.

The project was part of the curriculum for around 400 students with 5 designs selected to be displayed in the campus.

The results are impressive combining bright young minds of the future with the timeless design of the iconic Vespa, an original project first started in 1945 as a study in form and function for that period by the brilliant Italian aeronautical engineer Corradino D'Ascanio.

D'Ascanio's design famously went into production in 1946 successfully carrying Vespa to this day.

The project with the UNSW showcases how the original form can be carried to a futuristic function.

Vespa has been continually manufactured in Italy since 1946. It is is till manufactured there today  while also expanding to other strategically located manufacturing facilities realising production of over 17 million units since the first model.

Primavera 150 I-get is Australia's number one selling Vespa featuring an environmentally friendly, fuel injected 150 motor and the safety of ABS as standard.

Primavera 150 currently retails for $6690 plus on road costs.
